課程概述

Students will be required to write one short composition every week (usually about one A4 page, but varying between 150 words at the beginning of the semester to occasionally as long as 500 words at the end). The instructor will give brief lectures on organization, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and common English writing problems of Chinese students. The class will occasionally be divided into small groups for the students to discuss each other’s papers. All lectures and discussions will be conducted in English.

課程目標
The primary goal of this class is to increase the students’ ability to write clear, accurate, and coherent English prose. Secondary goals are to increase their English vocabulary and to develop the students’ ability to read English prose critically in order to help with their own writing in English.
課程要求
Students will be expected to attend classes regularly and punctually, to submit the weekly written assignments at the beginning of each class, and to participate actively in class discussions.
